Set up your workplace

Five things to decide once. None of them is permanent, and none of them has to be right before you can draw a week.

Who this is for
The person who registers the workplace. Registering makes you its chief manager.

Step by step

  1. Register the workplace

Create an account on the website and give the workplace a name. The account that registers it becomes the chief manager, which is the one role that can make somebody else a manager.

  2. Work through the checklist

The dashboard opens with one — add qualifications, create positions, set working limits, add your team, decide how people get an account, build a schedule — and it ticks each step off as you do it. This help centre covers the same ground in the order its own pages are listed, which is not quite the checklist's.

  3. Choose when a week starts

The Schedules entry in the menu opens Weeks. Set there whether a week starts on Monday or Sunday, and set the workplace's timezone. The timezone decides which week counts as the current one and when preferences close; the shift times themselves never move.

  4. Set your working limits

On Rule Sets, create at least one: maximum hours a day, a week or a month, maximum shifts, maximum working days, maximum days in a row, minimum rest between shifts. Leave a field blank and that rule is not enforced. Every one of them is a warning and never a block.

  5. Set the preferences allowance

On Preferences, choose how many shifts a person may mark as one they cannot work, in a single week. You can override it for one week or for one person later.

What you do not have to get right yet

Positions, qualifications, rule sets and the allowance can all be changed whenever you like, and changing them does not rewrite a week you have already published.
