Build the week
A week moves through four states: a draft, open for preferences, locked while you assign, and published. This is the middle of it.
- Who this is for
- A manager or the chief manager, on the website.
Step by step
Open the week
Weeks, then the one you want. Every week is already there and they fill in as you plan them, so there is nothing to create first.
Open it for preferences
Open for preferences lets your staff rank the shifts they are eligible for. They can see the shifts at this point — that is how they rank them — but not who has been assigned to what.
Draw the shifts
Add shift, or click empty space on the grid. A shift has a position, a date, a start and an end to the minute, a coverage tier and the number of people it needs. It can cross midnight, and it can be repeated across chosen weekdays in one go. Copy shifts from another week keeps each shift on its own weekday.
Lock it and assign
Lock and start assigning closes ranking. Click a shift and its candidates appear, each with what they asked for. Booking one person into two overlapping shifts is refused outright; everything else is a warning you can overrule.
Read the warnings
Over the hours limit, less rest than required, too many days in a row, over the shift limit: each names what it found and what the limit was. Weeksort warns, and the decision stays with you.
Or ask for a proposal
Auto-assign fills the open slots without breaking a hard rule, favours what people asked for and balances hours. You see who would go where, and what it could not fill and why, and nothing is saved until you apply it.
Before you publish
The strip above the week counts its shifts, its coverage hours and the mandatory slots that are still unfilled. A red slot is a mandatory one that is short, and publishing while one is open asks you to confirm.
